Welcome to Immanuel Mar Thoma Church! Immanuel Marthoma Parish was inaugurated on 17th of March 2012 by our Diocesan Bishop Rt. Rev. Joseph Mar Barnabas Thirumeni and regular services started by Rev. T. J. Thomas until Rev. Ansan Thomas arrived as 1st resident vicar. In July 2007 under the guidance of Rev. K. M. Mathew, then the 1st vicar of Melbourne Marthoma Church Parkville, the Marthoma believers started the Holy Communion Service at St.Pauls Anglican Church, Frankston. The South eastern suburb members were more disadvantaged because of the distance which was averaging about 60 to 70 KMs one way. So the believers of north and central part of south eastern suburbs of Melbourne discussed about the need of starting a new Marthoma Worship Service and it was presented to the Melbourne Marthoma Parish General body. We had started the worship service at Uniting Church, Endeavour Hills from 13 th of Sep 2009 on every second Sunday by Rev. Bobby Philip and the Frankston service was moved to Fourth Sundays of every month. Our next aim was to become a full fledged parish and all of us prayed and worked towards that process. The zeal and enthusiasm shown by the members has been tremendous. There were a lot of hiccups in this formation but nothing prevailed in the way of our Lord Jesus Christ and finally on 2 nd December 2011 this congregation was approved as a parish by the Synod and named as Immanuel Marthoma Church, Melbourne. This is the Second Parish in Melbourne and the 7th parish in Australia. The honorable synod has appointed Rev. Ansan Thomas as our first resident Vicar who joined us in June 2012. After the formation of the parish in January 2012, we felt the need of a Vicar to cater to the pastoral needs of our parishioners. We requested the honorable Thirumeni who kindly appointed Rev. T. J. Thomas as our interim Vicar. Since achens arrival he has taken over the functioning of Immanuel Marthoma church and captured the hearts of our members with his wisdom and gentleness. Our membership began to grow. We have currently 105 families as strong member
